Privacy policy
This page explains which personal data is processed when you visit this website, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and German law. In short: this site uses no cookies, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Fonts, search, maths formulas and images are all served by this site itself, not loaded from other companies' servers.

2. Hosting (Cloudflare)
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, provided by Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you visit, your browser automatically sends technical information: your IP address, the time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system. Cloudflare uses this to deliver the pages to you and to protect the site against attacks.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: my legitimate interest in running the site securely and reliably. Cloudflare processes this data on my behalf (Art. 28 GDPR) under a data processing agreement. Data may also be processed in the USA; Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (the European Commission's adequacy decision of 10 July 2023, Art. 45 GDPR) and has also signed the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. I do not keep access logs myself.
To keep email addresses away from spam bots, Cloudflare scrambles them in the page and restores them with a small script loaded from this site's own address. No additional data is collected by this.
3. Data stored in your browser
This site stores a few settings in your browser (localStorage) to provide features you use: light or dark mode, your language choice, whether you dismissed the language banner, which notes you have read, and the last note you read and how far. This data stays on your device and is never sent to me or anyone else.
Storing it is strictly necessary to provide the features you use (§ 25(2) no. 2 of the German TDDDG), so no separate consent is needed. You can delete it at any time in your browser's settings for this site.
4. Share button and external links
The Share button uses plain links; no social network plugins are embedded in the pages. Your browser only connects to a service (such as X, WhatsApp, Telegram or Weibo) after you click it, and from then on that service's own privacy policy applies. On phones, sharing uses your phone's own share menu. The WeChat QR code is made by this site and does not contact WeChat. Links to other websites in the notes work the same way.
5. Contacting me by email
If you email me, I use your email address and message to reply to you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Art. 6(1)(b) where it concerns a contract). I delete the emails once they are no longer needed, unless the law requires me to keep them.
6. Your rights
You have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20) regarding your personal data. Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you have the right to object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21). Contact me at the email address above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77), for example in the place where you live or where the controller is based.
You are not required to provide any personal data. This site does not use automated decision-making or profiling.
